About
Why the work is being done
Background
Across the UK there are a number of voluntary led Tech for Good communities which exist to both support charities digital journeys, and more broadly bringing together a community doing social good with tech.
We know that local support networks are effective at reaching and connecting diverse, cross sector organisations interested in creating tech and digital that does social good. This includes a large focus on the charity sector and supporting skills development and knowledge. Recognising that these local networks are mainly volunteer led, the aim of Tech For Good UK is to support them to flourish in a way that leads to increased effectiveness and sustainability.
About Tech for Good UK
Representatives from across these regional or place-based networks have come together to form a member led UK national body that is representative of the multitude of individuals and organisations driving tech for good. https://www.techforgoodorganisers.uk/
- A national network consisting of everyone in the UK (cross sector) working together to create tech and digital for social good.
- Powered by regional networks supporting each other to thrive and supporting new local networks to set up.
- Working together to create an effective national digital network.
The stability of a national network of local communities has the potential to impact sustainability of each local network by reducing duplication of effort and providing a supportive network of peers. It will increase their effectiveness and impact by providing shared good practice. It has the potential to motivate new local networks to form and even allow them, with their collective impact potentially access more funds, thus further increasing stability and impact.
